Loading... Prairie Storm: Town Called Hope #3 (Heartquest) (edition 1999)by Catherine PalmerThird book in this series and I enjoyed all three stories. This book is about Elijah Book, a former cowboy turned into a preacher. He finds himself entrusted with a newborn baby, when he comes across the parents who both die tragically. And Elijah really has no clue what he is doing! Lily Nolan is hurt, bitter and overwhelmed with her life. Her father abused her, her husband used her and her little girl has just died. She is traveling through Hope, Kansas with a traveling show, when she hears little Samuel (Elijah's new infant) crying. She discovers him in a saddlebag hungry and wet and sets out to nurse hime and care for him. When Elijah discovers her taking care of the infant he decides she should stay and help him. But Lily doesn't have much use for preachers or men, so the relationship is a very rocky one. She sure does know her Bible though, and it was interesting reading as these two challenged each other with what God's word says. They both will struggle with trusting in God's plan to see them through the many challenges they both will face. A good ending to a good series. Although there is another short story out there in a novella about one of the men in Hope, Kansas, called 'Prairie Christmas'. |
