The first edition consisted of eight hundred copies
Majority of the poems in vol. I, reprinted from the volumes of 1830 and 1833, were considerably revised: cf. Notes on R1 verso: "The second division of this volume was published in the winter of 1832. Some of the poems have been considerably altered. Others have been added, which, with one exception, were written in 1833."
Twenty-three pieces were taken from Poem Chiefly Lyrical, 1830, and sixteen pieces from Poems, 1833. The poems in the second volume, are mostly new, only two having been published before. -- Cf. Livingstone, Bibliography of the first editions, p. 19-20
