His second son, EDWARD FERRAND, esq. of Harden Beck, bapt. at Bingley, 29th May, 1656, married Jane, daughter of William Richard son, esq. of Bierley, in the county of York, and by her, who died in 1716, had issue, RICHARDSON, of Harden a magistrate for the West Riding, bapt. at Bingley, 21st April, 1692, m. the 24th May, 1728, Mary, daughter of William Busfeild, esq. of Ryshworth, and died in 1745, leaving two surviving daughters, JANE, m. to Robert Stansfield, esq. of Esholt, and d. s. p. in 1772. MARY, m. first, in 1756, to Henry Currer, esq. of Kildwick, and secondly to Peter, son of Ralph Bell, esq. of Thirsk, but died without issue in 1771. JOHN, of whom presently. Jane, d. unm. Edward Ferrand died in 1742, and was buried at Bingley, 17th Dec. His younger son, JOHN FERRAND, esq. Stockton, bapt. at Bingley 29th April, 1697, m. Maria Hewdick, daughter of an eminent merchant of Rotterdam, and by her, who died 1st July, 1744, left at his decease in 1729, a son and heir, RICHARDSON FERRAND, esq. of Stockton, bapt. there 22nd November, 1723, who m. 14th February, 1745, Anne, eldest daughter of the Rev. George Walker, of Stockton, and by that lady, who died in 1771, had issue, EDWARD, his heir. Walker, of Harden Grange, magistrate and deputy lieutenant for the West Riding of Yorkshire, and M.P. for Tralee, m. first, Katharine-Maria, only daughter and heir of General William Twiss, col. commandant of the royal engineers, and secondly, Margaret, daughter of John Moss, esq. of Otterspool, banker, but died s. p. 20th September, 1835. Jane, b. in September, 1775, m. to the Rev. C. B. Charlewood, of Oakhill, in Staffordshire, and died in 1793, having had a son, Charles-Benjamin Charlewood, who died unm. aged twenty-one, and Sarah Charlewood, wife of Charles Martin, esq. grandson EDWARD FERRAND, esq. of St. Ives, b. at of the third Duke of Athol. Barnard Castle, inherited the estates of the SARAH, (widow of Currer Fothergill senior branch of the family, and was a maBusfeild, esq.) the present Mrs. FER-gistrate and deputy lieutenant for the West RAND, of Harden Grange and St. Riding of Yorkshire and for the county of Ives. Lancaster. He m. Francis, youngest daughAnne-Catherine, m. first, Edward Sur- ter and co-heir of W. Holden, esq. of Bailtees, esq. of Seatonburn, in Northum- don, and had an only daughter, berland, and secondly, George T. FRANCES. B. Monkland, esq. of Donhead Lodge, captain in the army, only son of George Monkland, esq. of Bath. By the former she has one son, WILLIAM-EDWARD SURTEES, esq. Mr. Ferrand died 21st March, 1837, aged fifty-nine, and was buried at Bingley. His estates devolved on his sister, Sarah, the present Mrs. FERRAND, of St. Ives. Charles Wood, R.N. of Bowling Hall, and sister of Sir Francis Wood, bart. Mr. Busfeild, who is a magistrate and deputy lieutenant of the West Riding of Yorkshire, was returned to parliament by the borough of Bradford in 1837. Lineage. WILLIAM BUSFEILD, of Leeds, merchant, (son of James Busfeild, who died in January, 1613, by Helen his wife, who died the same day) m. 7th September, 1611, Elizabeth, eldest sister of Thomas Metcalf, alderman of Leeds, and had issue, James, b. 19th August, 1612, died 24th WILLIAM, of whom presently. Isabel, born in Jan. 1621, m. first Rich ard Newby, of Leeds, merchant, and bella, wife of William Rookes, esq. mayor of Leeds; and by the latter, who died in Sept. 1705, a son, Thomas Pulleine, esq. high sheriff of Yorkshire in 1696. The son and successor, WILLIAM BUSFEILD, esq. of Leeds, bapt. 8th May, 1635, who served the office of mayor of that town in 1673, purchased a capital messuage and lands at Ryshworth, in the parish of Bingley, Yorkshire. He m. first, Miss Frank, by whom he had no issue; and secondly, 12th January, 1670, Ann, daughter of Hugh Currer, esq. of Kildwick, by whom, who wedded secondly, Robert Ferrand, esq. of Harden Grange, he left at his decease in 1675, a son and successor, WILLIAM BUSFEILD, esq. of Ryshworth, and of Gray's Inn, London, a magistrate for the West Riding of Yorkshire, who m. Elizabeth, dau. of Abraham Fothergill, esq. of London, descended from the Forthergills of Burghill near Richmond, and by her, who died in April, 1726, had issue, WILLIAM, his heir. (See Mary, m. 24th May, 1728, to Richardson Mr. Busfeild died 26th March, 1730, and was WILLIAM BUSFEILD, esq. of Ryshworth Hall, who espoused Miss Mary Wilkinson, and by her, who m. secondly Edward Kenyon, esq. mayor of Leeds, and died in March, 1796, left at his decease, 5th Nov. 1748, an only daughter and heir, ELIZABETH BUSFEILD, b. 1st Jan. 1747, who m. 7th Jan. 1765, Johnson Atkinson,* M.D. of Leeds, and afterwards of Ryshworth and Myrtle Grove near Bingley, many years an active magistrate and deputy lieutenant for the West Riding of Yorkshire, who assumed, upon the demise of his wife's uncle, Thomas Busfeild, esq. the surname and arms of BusFEILD. BURNABY, EDWYN, esq. of Baggrave Hall, in the county of Leicester, b. 29th September, 1799, m. 28th August, 1829, Anne-Caroline, daughter of Thomas Salisbury, esq. second son of Thomas Salisbury, esq. of Marshfield House, in the county of York, by Mary, his wife, daughter of Thomas Lister, esq. and has issue, EDWYN-SHERrard. Mr. Barnaby, who succeeded his father 1st October, 1825, is a gentleman of her majesty's most honourable privy chamber, deputy-lieutenant and magistrate for the county of Leicester, and late captain in the 3rd, or Prince of Wales's dragoon guards. Lineage. The period of the family of de Bernabi, or de Burneby, settling in Leicestershire, may be traced from various records in the possession of the family to an early period after the Conquest. Robert de Bernaby founded at Bradley, in the county of Leicester, a small priory of the order of St. Austin, in the reign of King JOHN, in 1199, of which Eustace de Burnaby, lord of Watford, d. seized in 1466. In 1260, JOHN DE BURNABY held land at Medboune, and Holt, in Leicestershire, and his name appears as juror in inquisitions held at Evington, in 1260, and at Baggrave in 1275, (vide NICHOL's Leicestershire). He m. in 1277, Sarah, daughter and co-heir of Eustace Arden, of Watford, in Northamptonshire, and had a son, EUSTACE DE BURNABY, of Watford, who was high sheriff for the county of Northampton, in 9 EDWARD II. and 2 EDWARD III., and represented that county in the parliament 66 The 1.
