14. The God of Abraham. 6—8—4.

Thy name shall be called Abraham: for a father of many nations have I made thee: And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee, in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.-GEN. xvii. 5, 7.-See Rom. iv. 11, 12; Gal. iii. 7, 9.

2

THE GOD of Abra'm praise, Who reigns enthron'd above; Ancient of everlasting days, And God of love! JEHOVAH, great I AM!

By earth and heav'n confess'd,
I bow and bless the sacred name,
For ever bless'd.

The God of Abra'm praise,
At whose supreme command

From earth I rise, and seek the joys
At his right hand.
I'd all on earth forsake,

Its wisdom, fame, and pow'r;
And him my only portion make,
My shield and tow'r.

3 The Gop of Abra'm praise,
Whose all-sufficient grace
Shall guide me all my happy days,
In all his ways:

He calls a worm his friend,
He calls himself my God!

And he shall save me to the end,
Through JESU's blood.

PART THE SECOND. 6-8-4.

But now they desire a better country, that is an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.-HEB. xi. 16.

THOUGH nature's strength decay,
And earth and hell withstand,
To Cauaan's bounds I urge my way
At God's command:

The wat'ry deep I pass

With JESUS in my view,
And thro' the howling wilderness
My way pursue.

2 The goodly land I see

3

With peace and plenty blest;
The land of sacred liberty
And endless rest:

There milk and honey flow,
And oil and wine abound;
And trees of life for ever grow,
With mercy crown'd.

There dwells the Lord our king,
The Lord our righteousness!
Triumphant o'er the world and sin,
The Prince of Peace;
On Sion's sacred height
His kingdom still maintains;
And glorious with his saints in light,
For ever reigns,

4

He keeps his own secure,

He guards them by his side,
Arrays in garments white and pure
His spotless Bride:

With streams of sacred bliss,
With fruits of living joys,
(The joys, the bliss of Paradise),
His love supplies.

16. PART THe third. 6-8—4.

And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, honour, glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.-Rev. v. 13.

BEFORE the great THREE-ONE
The saints exulting stand;
And tell the wonders he hath done,
Through all their land.

The list'ning hosts attend,
And swell the growing fame;
And sing in songs which never end,
The wond'rous name!

2 The Gop who reigns on high,
The great archangels sing;
And, "Holy, Holy, Holy," cry,
Almighty King!

Who was, and is, the same,

And evermore shall be;

JEHOVAH, Father, great I AM!
We worship thee!

3

Before the SAVIOUR'S face
The ransom'd nations bow,
O'erwhelm'd at bis almighty grace,
For ever new:

His wounds, those prints of love→ They view, and bless his name! And sound thro' all the worlds above The slaughter'd LAMB!

4 The whole triumphant host Give thanks to GOD on high;

Hail, FATHER, SON, and HOLY GHOST,
They ever cry:

Hail, Abraham's GoD, and mine!
I join the heavenly lays:

All might and majesty be thine,
And endless praise!

17. For his Faithfulness. L. M.

God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it-1 COR, x. 13.

NOW let the feeble all be strong,

And make JEHOVAH's arm their song: His shield is spread o'er ev'ry saint, And, thus supported, who shall faint? 2 What tho' the hosts of hell engage With mingled cruelty and rage? A faithful GOD restrains their hands, And chains them down in iron bands.

3 Bound by his word He will display
A strength proportion'd to our day:
And, when united trials meet,

Will show a path of safe retreat.

4 Thus far we prove that promise good,
Which JESUS ratifi'd with blood:
Still he is gracious, wise, and just,
And still in him let Isr'el trust.

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. PSALM ciii. 1, 2.

BLESS, O my soul, the living GOD;
Call home thy thoughts, that rove
abroad:

Let all the powers, within me, join
In work and worship so divine.i

2 Bless, O my soul, the Gop of grace;
His favours claim thy highest praise;
Why should the wonders, he hath
wrought,

Be lost in silence, and forgot?

3 'Twas he, my soul, that sent his Son
To die for sins, which thou hast done;
He owns the ransom, and forgives
The hourly follies of our lives.

4 High as his mighty power has spread
The starry heavens above our head,
