This is the second volume of a projected trilogy. Ch. 13 (pp. 580-610), "The Destruction of the Jewish Community in Yugoslavia", states that the destruction of the Jews occurred at different times and to different extents, depending on the timing and extent of German control. Pp. 592-604 deal with events in Croatia. Most Jews living in Italian-controlled areas or among the partisans were saved. Efforts, mostly unsuccessful, to save Croatian Jews were made by Jewish and non-Jewish organizations, including the Vatican. Overall, 85% of Yugoslav Jews perished.
