18 Hagar fleeth from Sarai.

GENESIS.

The covenant renewed. 3 And Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar|tween me and thee, and will multiply her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had thee exceedingly. dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

4 And he went in unto Hagar, and the conceived: and when the faw that the had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

5 And Sarai faid unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bofom; and when the faw that the had conceived, I was despised in her eyes the LORD judge between me and thee.

3 And Abram fell on his face and God talked with him, faying,

4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

51 Neither fhall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings hall come out of thee.

old and nine, the LORD appeared to

thou perfect.

15 And God faid unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah ball her name be.

24 AndAbraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcifed in the flesh of his torekin.

19 For I kapw him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do juftice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men ftood by him and when he faw bem, he ran to meet them 20 And the LORD faid, Because the cry from the tent door, and bowed himfelf of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and toward the ground, because their fin is very grievous;

3 And faid, My lord, if now I have found favour in thy light, pafs not away, I pray thee, from thy fervant:

4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and reft yourfelves under the tree:

5 And I will fetch a morfel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye fhall pals on for therefore are ye come to your fervant. And they faid, So do, as thou haft faid.

21 I will go down now, and fee whether they have done alto ether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me: and if not, I will know.

22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham food yet before the LORD.

231 And Abraham drew near, and faid, Wilt thou alio datroy the nighteous with the wicked?

Behold now, I have taken upon me to do ye to them as is good in your eyes; fpeak unto the LORD, which am but duft only unto thefe men do nothing; for and ashes: therefore came they under the fhadow of my roof.

28 Peradventure there fhall lack five of the fifty righteous: Wilt thou deftroy all the city for lack of five? And he faid, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

29 And he spake unto him yet again, and faid, Peradventure there fhall be forty found there. And he faid, I will not do it for forty's fake.

9And they faid, Stand back. And they faid again, This one fellow came in to fojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worfe with thee than with them. And they preffed fore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door:

10 But the men put forth their hand, 30 And he faid unto him, Oh let not the and pulled Lot into the houfe to them, LORD be angry, and I will fpeak: Perad-and hut to the door. venture there thall thirty be found there. And he faid, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.

32 And he faid, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will fpeak yet but this once Peradventure ten fhall be found there. And he faid, I will not deftroy it for ten's fake.'

33 And the LORD went his way, as foon as he had left communing with Abraham and Abraham returned unto his place.

CHAP. XIX.

11 And they mote the men that were at the door of the houfe with blindness, both fmall and great: fo that they wearied themselves to find the door.

12 And the men faid unto Lot, Haft thou here any befides? fon-in-law, and thy fons, and thy daughters, and whatfoever thou haft in the city, bring them out of this place.

13 For we will deftroy this place, becaufe the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath fent us to destroy it."

14 And Lot went out, and fpake unto his fons-in-law, which married his daughters, and faid, Up, get ye out of this place; for the LORD will deftroy this city. But he feemed as one that mocked unto his fons-in-law.

15 And when the morning arofe, then the angels haftened Lot, faying, Arife, AND there came two angels to Sodom take thy wife, and thy two daughters, at even; and Lot fat in the gate of Sod-which are here; left thou be confumed om and Lot feeing them, rofe up to in the iniquity of the city. meet them; and he bowed himfelf with 16 And while he lingered, the men his face toward the ground;

35 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the first-born went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when the lay down, nor when the arofe.

6 And God faid unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didit this in the integrity of thy heart; for I alfo withheld thee from finning against me: therefore fuffered I thee not to touch her.

9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and faid unto him, What haft thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou haft brought on me and on my kingdom a great fin; thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

10 Abimelech faid unto Abraham, What faweft thou, that thou haft done this thing?

11 And Abraham faid, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will flay me for my wife's fake.
