Paul Outside the Walls: A Study of Luke's Socio-geographical Universalism in Acts 14:8-20

Editrice Pontificio Istituto Biblico, 1 ene. 2000 - 541 páginas
This study re-examines the form and function of Acts 14:8-20 within the literary context of the "first missionary journey" (Acts 13:1-14:28). In the Lystran episode, Luke casts Paul in the role of the genuine, self-disclosing sage in order to demonstrate how Paul purposely avoided any manipulation of the uncritical piety of rural people.
