Our day of pentecost is come,
In every poor expecting heart. 4. Father, on thee whoever call, Confess thy promise is for all,
While every one that asks receives,
And in thy Spirit walks, and lives.
O God, we now that spirit claim : To us the Holy Ghost impart, · Breathe him into our panting heart,
Thou hear’st us ask in Jesu's name. 6. Send us the spirit of thy son, To make the depths of Godhead known,
To make us share the life divine ; Send him the sprinkled blood t apply, Send him; our souls to sanctify,
And shew, and seal'us 'ever thine.

Peace, righteousness and joy: ..
The heavenly life display,
And seal us to that day.
To see his glorious face,
In that thrice happy place.

Breathing after the holy Spirit. 1. N OME, holy Spirit, heav'nly dove,
With all thy quick’ning pow'rs, Kindle a flame of sacred love
In these cold hearts of ours. 2. Look how we grovel here below,
Fond of these trifling toys : Our souls can neither fly, nor go,
To reach eternal joys. . 3. In vain we tune our formal songs,
In vain we strive to rise, Hosannas languish on our tongues,
And our devotion dies.
At this poor, dying rate ?
And thine to us so great ?
5. Come, holy Spirit, heav'nly dove,
With all thy quick’ning pow'rs,
And that shall kindle ours.

To teach us all thy perfect will.
That guide infallible impart,
And write them on our faithful heart. 4. He only can the words apply
Thro' which we endless life possess,
O may he now to us bring in,
And make an end of fear and sin.
The height and depth of Deity, And all the sons of glory seal,
And change, and make us all like thee!
Hymn 105, L. M. 1. N OME, gracious Spirit, heav'nly Dove,
With light and comfort from above : Be thou our guardian, thou our guide, O’er every thought and step preside.

From every sin and hurtful snare ;
And teach us lessons how to live. 3. The light of truth to us display,
And make us know and choose thy way;
That we from God may ne'er depart. 4. Lead us to holiness, the road
That we must take to dwell with God:

Go mourning all their days? Great Comforter descend, and bring
Some tokens of thy grace.

And show my sins forgiv'n?
In the Redeemer's blood;
That I am born of God.
The pledge of joys to come; i And thy soft wings, celestial Dove,
Will safe convey me home.
Hymn 108. L. M.
Influence of the Spirit. 1. A S showers on meadows newly mown,
A Jesus shall send his blessings down, Crown'd with whose life infusing drops,
Earth shall renew her blissful crops. 2. Lands, that beneath a burning sky
Have long been desolate and dry,
And sudden greens and herbage wear. 3. The dews and rains in all their store,
Drenching the pastures o'er and o'er,
