Hotel Majestic: ein Deutscher im besetzten Frankreich

Portada
Herder, 1987 - 158 páginas
An autobiographical report by a Wehrmacht officer stationed in Paris headquarters during the German occupation of France. Includes material on confiscation of Jewish property and the theft of valuable objects of art. Describes orders concerning the execution of Jewish hostages and the role of the Wehrmacht in the mass deportation of Jews from France which, however, would have been impossible without the help of the French police. Claims that the execution of these orders by the Wehrmacht was not motivated by antisemitism but by a sense of duty. Admits that from 1941 on the staff in the Paris headquarters knew about the murder of the Jews in the East, but this did not prevent them from continuing to do their part in deportation.
