No Long Annuity was created in the year ended April 5, 1824. A part of the annuity of 2,800,000l. created in the year 1822, and vested in trustees for forty-five years, by the act of 3 Geo. IV., c. 51, for defraying naval and military pensions, was sold by those trustees to the Bank of England during the period to which the order refers. The amount so disposed of was 585,740%., the consideration for which was the payment of 13,089,4191. by the Bank of England in five years and a half. The market value of this annuity cannot be stated, because no portion of it has been sold in the public market. The Long Annuities, having thirty-seven years and threequarters unexpired, bore the price of 187. 178. 9d. at the date of the sale of the above annuity.
