Dies Gericht steht unter dem Grafen Marschall von England. Es gehören drey Wappenkönige dazu, nebft fechs nach eben fo vielen Oertern, als Windfor, York u. f. w. benannten Herolden. Die Wappenkönige führen die fonderbaren Namen Garter, Clarenceux, Norroy. Sie begleiten insgesamt den König ins Oberhaus, und müffen auch bey der Inftallivung der Ritter vom Hofenbande feyn. Alle wegen der Wappen unter den adlichen Familien entstehenden Streitigkeiten werden durch das Wappengericht entschieden." f) Squire. Es ist schwer zu sagen (heifst es in Kütt ners Beiträgen, Stück 3. S. 32.), wer alle diejenigen find, denen diefer Titel eigentlich, d. h. nach den Gefetzen, zukommt. Die Sohne der Baronets, die barrifters (Advokaten oder plaidirende Rechtsgelehrte) find Efquires, und so manche andere in verschiedenen öffentlichen Aemtern haben diefen Titel von Rechtswegen, Allein man giebt ihn auch vielen aus Höflichkeit, denen er eigentlich nicht gehört. Ein Gelehrter, ein Künstler erwartet auf Briefen das Efq. hin ter feinem Namen; das bekömmt er dann auch gewöhnlich. Der Befitz liegender Gründe giebt ihn nicht, ob man fchon diejenigen, die liegende Gründe haben, durchaus und vorzugweife so nennt. - In anferer Stelle ift der Gutsherr gemeint.

ken: In England giebt es vier Hauptarten von Silber-
münzen, die Krone, welche fünf Schillinge enthält,
die halbe Krone, der Schilling und der halbe
Schilling. Der Schilling beträgt etwa acht Grofchen
Sachffch. Zwanzig Schillinge machen ein Pfund
(pound), welches eine Englische Rechnungsmünze ift;
ein und zwanzig Schillinge machen eine Guinea,
welches eine wirkliche Goldmünze ift. An Kupfermun-
zen hat man den Halfpenny (etwa vier Pfennige nach
unferm Gelde) und der Farthing (etwa zwey Pfennige).
