One of the wrappers of the parts in which it was issued (containing the prospectus and plan of publication, terms, &c.), and also the notice issued with the last part, stating the reasons for the discontinuance of the publication, are preserved in the last volume.

These editions contain only the overtures, songs, &c., and choruses; the recitatives (excepting occasionally an accompanied one) being omitted. In some cases, also, the whole of the instrumental parts are not given.

This arrangement differs materially from the oratorio as written by Handel, and published in England; many pieces being altogether omitted, and others transposed in order of succession. An alto part is added to the last chorus ("I will magnify Thee "), which Handel wrote in three vocal parts only.
