Anth. O holy Paul the Apoftle, the preacher of truth, and doctor of the Gentiles, intercede for us to God, who chofe thee. V. Thou art a chofen veffel, O holy Paul the Apostle. R. Preacher of the truth all over the world.

Peter, the keys of the kingdom of heaven, didft give him the power of binding and loofing: grant that, by his interceffion, we may be freed from the bonds of our fins. Who liveft.

Of St. PAUL. Deus, qui multitudinem. God, who, by the preaching of blefied Paul the Apostle, didst instruct the multitude of the Gentiles: grant, we beseech thee, that, while we celebrate his memory, we may find the effects of his prayers. Thro'.

EPISTLE. 1 Pet. i. 1, 7.

PETER, an Apoftle of Jefus Chrift, to the ftrangers difperfed throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Afia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father unto the fanctification of the fpirit, unto obedience and fprinkling of the blood of Jefus Chrift: may grace and peace be increafed unto you. Bleffed be God, who is alfo the Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift, who, according to his great mercy, hath regenerated us to a lively hope, by the refurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is incorruptible, undefiled, and which cannot fade away, referved in heaven for you, who, by the power of God, are preserved thro' faith, for the falvation got ready to be revealed in the last time. For which you will rejoice, though now, for a little while, you must be afflicted with many trials; that the trial of your faith, more valuable than gold, which is tried by the fire, may turn out to your praife, glory, and honour, at the coming of our Lord Jefus Chrift. Let them extol him in the affembly of the people, and let them praise him where the elders fit. V. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercy, and publifh his wonders to the fons of men.

At that time: Jefus came into the territories of Cafarea Philippi, and asked his disciples, faying: Whom do the people say the Son of Man is? And they answered: Some fay he is John the Baptift, others that he is Elias, others Jeremias, or fome one of the Prophets. Jefus faith to them: But whom do you fay that I am? Simon Peter anfwering, faid: Thou art the Chrift, the Son of the living God. And Jefus anfwering, faid to him: Bleffed art thou Simon Barjona; for flesh and blood hath not revealed this to thee, but my Father, who is in heaven. And I fay to thee: Thou art Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell fhall not prevail against it. And I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatfoever thou fhalt loofe on earth, fhall be loofed in heaven. CREDO.

POSTCOMMUNION. TAY the facrifice we have offered, O Lord, fill us with a holy joy: that as we publish the miracles thou haft done in the perfon of thy Apostle Peter, so we may abundantly, through his prayers, receive the effects of thy mercy.

Of St. PAUL.

Eing fanctified, O Lord, by these faving myfteries, we pray that we never may

be deprived of his interceffion, whom thou haft appointed our patron and guide. Thro'.
