TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY. JER. XXIII. 5-8 (Ep.) Gleanings after Harvest. O LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, Great Shepherd of the sheep, Who from the desolations of the world wilt gather into one Thy scattered flock, from every nation upon earth, and Who wilt bring again those multitudes who wait in Paradise the consummation of Thy Church, that they with us may be made perfect: So prepare the hearts of all who love Thy Name, that they may greet Thy coming with Hosannas, and rejoice to welcome Thee, the Righteous Branch, the King Whose reign shall prosper in the earth. Stir up the failing faith, the lagging zeal of all Thy servants, that Thy gospel message may be known in all the corners of the land; and bid Thy light to shine amid the darkness, searching out the hidden depths of ignorance and unbelief. Direct and guide the counsels of Thy Church, that no contentions may arise, no selfish interests prevail to hinder or discourage her great work. In unity of spirit, and in singleness of heart, unite us in one Body for the one great end, the world's salvation. Gather up the fragments that are scattered far and wide, and draw us all together in one Faith, one Love; that with Thee for our Head we may with one mind do Thy work, and so advance Thy Kingdom. Meanwhile reign in every single heart, and shew us wherein we have wasted time and talents. Help us, ere it be too late, to seek from Thee renewal of Thy grace, that we may so "redeem the time." Restore our failing powers with constant sustenance from Heaven, the Bread of Life, the wine of Thy most precious Blood.
