O LORD JESU CHRIST, by earthly descent Son of Abraham and Son of David, and therefore worthy to be King of all men: Who didst ascend into Heaven to be enthroned and exalted to the Right Hand of God, as King of kings, and Lord of lords, the Prince of the kings of the earth, Who shalt judge the quick and the dead at Thy appearing: It is not for us to know the times and seasons which the Father hath put in Thine own power; grant us therefore the patience of hope and faith, that we look not for Thy coming with an idle curiosity, but working actively and zealously as fellowcitizens with the Saints. To each of us, the members of Thy Church and Kingdom, hast Thou given duties, talents, powers, to use for Thee and in Thy service : There are diversities of gifts, and differences of administration, but the same Spirit and the same Lord: Help us to bring forth faithfully and richly fruits meet for Thee, that according to our works, though not according to our merits, but Thy mercies, we may be abundantly rewarded. Thee only will we have to reign over us; rule us by Thy grace in all holy obedience, that we may serve Thee, body, soul, and spirit, looking for the recompense of reward which Thou hast promised. We know that Thou in Heaven hast many mansions, and that as there is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars, so shall we be blessed in the Resurrection according as Thou hast dealt to every man the measure of faith. The vessels of Thy Grace, some larger and some smaller, shall be all as full as they may hold of glory.
