THE Committee of Publication feel that it is due to the Members of the American Medical Association, as well as to themselves, to state that the delay in the appearance of the present volume was unavoidable. Every effort that was made to secure prompt and early publication was frustrated by delay in returning proofs that were sent to distant points for correction. Nothing has occurred here to embarrass their operations. The sole and entire cause was that above stated. It is sincerely hoped that this explanation will exonerate the Committee from any censure that might otherwise be cast upon them. DECEMBER 15, 1858. VOL. XI.
