Women, Work, and Property in North-West India

Monograph on social role of rural women, particularly woman workers, in north-west India - based on ethnographyc material collected during a field study in two villages, examines social status of rich and poor women, access to land ownership, homemaker tasks, agricultural employment, marriage, cultural factors (e.G. Purdah), extended clan relations, etc., And concludes that changing economic conditions have hardly altered submissive relationship between husband and wife.
