Excerpt from Christ, the Teacher

The. Authorized Version of the Scriptures has been followed, mainly. Conscious of the fact that in rely ing thereon, many times we may be led into slight inaccuracies, owing to the fact that sometimes the translation introduces figures of speech not in the original, and at other times omits figures found in the original, yet it seemed best for the purpose, in the main, at least, to so do. Besides, to depend upon the Greek text, entirely, would require a textual criticism far beyond the scope and pretense of this volume.

The work is intentionally primary, and is designed to lead to a more exhaustive study of the ideal Teacher as a model.

It is sincerely hoped that the mingling of the didactic and hortatory styles may not prove objection able, but, rather, instructive and inspiring.

With a desire to enhance the interest of Christ's kingdom among men, and with a feeling akin to that of Justin Martyr, expressed in the saying, Fain would I 0 Son of Mary, have said something great of thee, this work is submitted to the public.
