SECT. XI. Tbe Mystery of Christ, bis Names, Natures, and Ofices. MY Lord appears! awake my

foul ! Admire his name ibe Wonderful, 9 cipalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, againīt spiritual wickedness in high places.

I Rev. xvii. 27. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the bealt, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

2 Eph. ii. 3. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times palt, in the lufts of our felh, fulfilling the desires of the Hesh, and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

3 James i. 13. Let no man say, when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither templeth he any man. Acts i, 15, 16. And in those days Peter Itood up in the midit of the dilciples, and faid, Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost, by the mouth of David, spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. 4 Hosca v. 11. Ephraim is opprefied, and broken in judgment; because he willingly walked af er the commandment. 2 Cor. viii. 11, 12. Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance allo out of that which you have. For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted, according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

5 Pfalm cxix. 176. I have gone astray like a loft Theep, seck thy fervant : for I do not forget thy commandments.

1 Psalm cxlvii. 5. Great is our Lord, and of great power : his understanding is infinite. Luke ii. 52. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

2 Gal. iv. 4. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.

3 lta. ix. 6. For unto us a child is born~: and his name shall be called The everlasting Father. Mas. i. 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted, is, God with us.

He faith unto them, How the doth David, in spirit, call him Lord, saying, The Lord faid unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right-hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool ? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son ? &c.

6 Mat. xxi. 5. Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and fitting upon an afs, and a colt the fole of an ass. Ver. 3, 9. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way ; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multi. Eudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David : Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest. Ver. 13. And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that fold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the cables of the money. changers, and the fears of them that fold doves. Col. ii. 15. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it (viz. his cross). Rom. iv. 25. Jesus our Lord was delivered for our of: fences, and was raised again for our justification. Epla. iv. 8. Wherefore he (viz. David) faith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Rom. i. 4. Jesus Christ our Lord was declared to be che Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

7 Eph. iv. 22. Put off concerning the former conversation, the old mann which is corrupt, according to the deceitful lusts.

He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head. • 2 Rom. viii. 3. God sent his own Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. John i. 14. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth. Luke i. 35. And the angel answered and said unto Mary, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee: therefore allo that holy thing which shall be born of thee, shall be called the Son of God. Heb. ii. 16. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. And vii. 26, 27. For such an High-priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from finners, and made higher than the heavens: who need. ed nor daily, as those high-priests, to offer up facrifice, first for his own fins, and then for the peoples; for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

3 lía. lii. 3, 6. All we like theep have gone astray: we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 2 Cor. V. 21. God hath made Christ to be sin for us, who knew no fin: that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Mat. XX. 28. The Son of man came to give his life a ransom for many.

4 Rom. iii. 25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of fins that are palt, Through the forbearance of God. Ads xx. 28. Feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 1 Pet. i. 18, 19. Forasmuch as ve know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation, received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot. .. John iii. 16. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us.

5 Rev. i. 4, 5..Grace be unto you, and peace from Jesus Chrilt, who is the faithful witness, and the first-begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth.

6 Zech. vi, 12, 13. Behold, the Man whose name is the Branch, -he shall build the temple of ihe Lord, and he shall bear the glory. Heb. xii. 2. Jesus, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, &c.

7 Plalm xlv. 7. Thou loveit righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hash anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8 Mat. xxvi. 29. And when they had plaited a crown of chorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail king of the Jews.

The morning-star, the rising fun

The jaring glories kindly meet,

God is a Spirit; seems it odd

Yea, hence my peace and joy result,

1 Rev. xxii. 16. I (Jesus) am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning.star. Mal. iv. 2. But unto you that fear my nome, shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye ihall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

2 Col. i. 18. And Christ is the head of the body, the church ; who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead : chat in all things he might have the pre-eminence. John iii. 16. God so loved the world, that he gave his only begott en Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perith, but have everlasting life. Gen, iii. 15. And I (viz. the Lord God) will put enmity be. tween thee and thee woman, and between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

3 Isa. liii. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment : and who shall declare his generation ? Prov. xxx. 4. Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fifts? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? whac is his name, and what is his Son's name, if thou canst tell?

4 Rev. i. 11. I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last. The last Adam was made a quickening Spirit. Verse 47. The second man is the Lord from heaven.

5 2 Cor. iv 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Jesus Christ. Rom iii 24, — 26 Being juitified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Chriit: whom God hach féc forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to declare his righteoufa ness for the remission of fins that are part, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteouluess: that he might be just, and che justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Eph. i. 6, 7 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the Beloved : in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

6 Rom. v 20, 21 But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: that as lin hath reigned unto death, even lo might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord. Psalm lxxxv 10 Mercy and truth are met together : righteoufness and peace have kissed cach other.

7 John iv 24 God is a spirit, and they that worship him, must worihip bim in spirit and in truth. Ads xx 28 Feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

8 Rom. v. 1. Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Verse 10 For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more being reconciled,

1 Cor. XV. 45.

Love through his blood a vent has fought,
Yet divine love was never bought:
Mercy could never purchas'd be,
Yet ev'ry mercy purchas'd he. I
His triple station brought my peace,
The Altar, Priest, and Sacrifice; 2

'This King, who only man became,

we shall be saved by his life. 1 Pet. ïïi. 13. Be ready always to give an an. Swer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear. Verle 18. For Christ hath also once suffered for fins, the just for she unjust that he might bring us to God) being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.

į Rom. v. 9. Much more then being now justified by his blood, we shall be faved from wrath through him. Verse 21. See figure 6 p. 207. John iii, 16. God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perith, but have everlasting life. Rom. ix. 15. God faith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy; and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Eph. i. 3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

2 Heb. xiii. 10. We have an altar whereof they have no right to eat, which serve the tabernacle. And ii. 17. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren ; that he might be a merciful and faithful Highpriest, in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the fins of the people. And ix. 26. But now once in the end of the world, hath Christ appeared, to put away lin by the sacrifice of himself,

Worthy is the Lamb that was Nain, to receive power, and riches. and wisdom, and itrength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

5 Rev. xix 16 And he (viz. the Word of God) hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Ilaiah xxxvii. 15, 16 And Hezekiah prayed unto the Lord, saying, O Lord of bosts, God of liracl, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kin doms of the earth, thou hait made heaven and earth. Rev. xi 15 And the seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
