ing the Village of Cartes, with Intent to pursue the discomfited Army. This Day it appears, that the Report was ill founded, although it came in a Shape entitled to Credit. The Chaffe-marées with Provifions are here, and most fortunately for the Troops who are paffing. I cannot add much to my last Difpatch, but hope the Enemy may not be in a State to occupy any Part of even this Province. Every Exertion is making by the Marquis de la Romana; and as I fhall accompany him Ishall embrace all Opportu nities of fending Intelligence. Things change fo conftantly, that I cannot precisely fay what is the Intention at present, or how far the Movements of the Enemy may leave the Marquis De la Romana at Liberty to attempt still to rally the broken Army nearer than there was an Appearance of at firft, and under the Idea of Purfuit. Information is looked for every Moment from the Side of Reynofa El Escudo and Solɔ.
