the Honour of informing you of my Sentiments; in the meantime I wish to have an Answer to the two Letters which I addreffed to you the Day before Yesterday, particularly on the Article of the Portuguese and English Flag, and on the Neutrality of the Port, in the Manner in which it pleased you the Day before Yesterday to give verbally to the two Perfons whom I deputed. As foon as I fhall receive this Answer, I will not fail to fign the Second Copy of the Convention, which I will fend to your Excellency, with the Obfervations relative to the Flag of his Imperial Majefty.

HAVE the Honour to enclose to your Excellency a tranflated Copy of the Articles you did me the Pleafure to forward, now executed as a Counter

part by me; which, to prevent further Trouble, I have left examined by Mr. Safs and my Secretary laft Evening, confidering that the Converfation between Admiral Tyler and yourself fully explained every minor Arrangement, and was perfectly underftood. I much wifh an Officer may remain on board your Ship, the Reafon for which I fhall have the Pleasure to explain when honoured with an Interview; an Honour I truft your Health may be fufficiently renovated to permit this Day.
