ANTHEMS AND PSALMS.
FOR CHRISTMAS DAY.
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who bringeth good tidings; who publisheth peace, who bringeth good tidings of good, who publisheth salvation, who saith unto Sion, Thy God reigneth.
There is sprung up a light for the righteous, and joyful gladness for such as are true of heart.
Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Sing unto the Lord, and praise his name; be telling of his salvation from day to day.
Let all those who seek him be joyful and glad in him, and let all such as love his salvation say always, The Lord be praised.
I will make thy name to be remembered to all generations; so that the people shall praise thee for ever and ever.
MY heart is inditing joyful words; I speak of the things concerning the King; my tongue is as the pen of a ready scribe.
LORD, thou art become gracious unto thy land; thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.
Thou hast forgiven the offence of thy people, and covered all their sins.
Thou hast taken away all thy displeasure, and turned thyself from thy wrathful indignation.
Turn us then, O God our Saviour, and let thine anger cease from us.
Wilt thou be displeased at us for ever? and wilt thou stretch out thy wrath from one generation to another?
Wilt thou not turn again and quicken us, that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Show us thy mercy, O 0 Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
I will hear what God the Lord will speak; for he will speak peace to his
people and his saints; on-
The Lord shall send the sceptre of thy power out of Sion; rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
In the day of thy power shall the people offer thee free will offerings with an holy worship; the dew of thy birth is of the womb of the morning.
The Lord sware, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedeck.
Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Truth shall flourish out of the earth; and righteousness hath looked down from heaven.
Yea, the Lord shall show his loving kindness; and our land shall yield her increase.
The Lord at thy right hand shall destroy even kings in the day of his wrath.
Righteousness shall go before him; and shall keep his path continually. Now unto the King the King eternal, &c.
He shall judge among the nations; he shall fill the places with the dead bodies, and shall wound the heads over many Be honor and glory, &c. countries.
He shall drink of the brook in the way, and lift up his head on high.
THE Lord said unto my lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
LORD, remember David, and all his troubles;
How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed a vow unto the Almighty God of Jacob;
I will not come within the tabernacle of mine house, nor climb up into my bed;
Of the fruit of thy body shall I set upon thy throne.
I will not suffer mine eyes to sleep, nor mine eyelids to slumber;
If thy children will keep my covenant, and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore.
Until I find out a place for the temple of the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
For the Lord hath chosen Sion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
We will go into his tabernacle, we will worship before his footstool.
This shall be my rest forever; here will I dwell, for I have a delight therein.
Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength.
Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints sing with joyfulness.
For thy servant David's sake, turn not away the face of thine anointed.
The Lord hath made a faithful oath unto David, and he shall not shrink from it;
I will bless her provision with increase; and will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will clothe her priests with salvation; and her saints shall rejoice and sing.
THE people stood up, and the rulers took coun

sel together against the Lord, and against his anointed.
They cast their heads
together with one consent, and were confederate against him.
They spake against him with false tongues, and encompassed him about with words of hatred, and fought against him with
out a cause.
False witnesses also did rise up against him; they laid to his charge things that he knew not.
For the sins of the people, and the iniquity of the priests, they shed the blood of the just, in the midst of Jerusalem.
He was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.
But, thou, Lord, hast highly exalted him, and given him a name that is above every name.
That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, and every tongue confess that Christ Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
MY God, my God, look upon me; why hast thou forsaken me, and art so far from my health, and from the words of my complaint?
O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season also I take no rest.
But thou continuest holy, O thou worship of Israel.
Our fathers trusted in thee; they trusted in thee, and thou didst deliver them.
They called upon thee, and were delivered; they put their trust in thee, and were not confounded.
But as for me, I am a worm and no man; a very scorn of men, and the outcast of the people.
All they who see me, laugh me to scorn; they shoot out their lips, and shake their heads, saying,
He trusted in God, that he would deliver
