From Pittsburg to Hamilton's Island, is shore Channel on the N. W. side, or what was formerly called 2d, or Horse Tail Ripple-A small distance below the Hog Island, lower end of. Channel N. W. side, close round the lower point of the island, towards the left hand shore for about fifty 3 4 5 Miles. rods, thence direct to the N. W. shore, which will put you clear of Woolery's Ripple Dead Ripple.-Channel close to the N. W. shore Loggstown.-Channel N. W. side till you pass the bar Crow's Island.-Channel N. W. side close to the Island Beaver Creek, comes in on the N. W. side.-On approaching this creek you must keep on the N. W. side, till you come within sight of the mouth of Beaver, then make to the left hand shore, and keep close to it, when you will soon pass the town of M'Intosh Ist Island below M'Intosh.--Channel N. W. shore Wheeling Island.-Channel on the Virginia shore, at the upper end keep near to the shore, thence across towards the island, for about one hundred yards; when you come in sight of the next ripple, make still more towards the island, and after you pass the ripple, keep down near the middle between the shore and island. Wheeling, N.W. Just below the town stands an old fort, at the point of land formed by the junction of Big Wheeling Creek and the Ohio River Mr. Mahon's Island.-Channel at the upper end near the Big Grave Creek.-Channel N.W. side.-Grave-Creek Fish Creek comes in on the Virginia side; here is an island.
