Bombs, Bullets, &c. with abundance of Provifion and Forage. The Enemy aban. don'd their Camp with the greatest Precipitation, and it was with very inconfiderable Lofs that we gained this compleat Victory, the Confequence of which was the Surrender of Choczim the 19th, by the Kaltschach Bafhaw, on Condition of A Quarter for Life, and that their Women and Children might be allow'd Convoys with their own Goods to their Habitations. The Outworks of this Fortrefs are all walled. and there are fix principal Bastions after the Turkish Manner in very good Condition; the Magazines were B richly provided, and 138 Cannon were found in the Place. The 21ft Te Deum was fung for this important Conqueft. The 23d General Biron repafs'd the Daiefter with the chief Prifoners of War under a ftrong Guard to return to Kiow; their Wives defiring to follow, it was allow'd, but the Kaltfchach Bafhaw would not be followed by his 4 Wives, and 2 Concubines. This Day we found eleven Pieces of Cannon on the Road to Bender, and having left our heavy Artillery and a ftrong Garrifon at Choczim, are directing our March for Jaffy, the Capital of Molt of the Greeks and D Moldavia. Christians in that Country have declared for Prince Cantemir, who commands a Body of Wallachians as Brigadier in the Ruffian Army.

The Turks and Tartars abandon'd Precop at the Approach of the Ruffian Army under the Command of Count Lafci, who afterwards advanced into the Crimea, in order to waste it with Fire and Sword. The Tkih Fleet in the Black Sea having been almoft destroy'd by a Storm, not only the Defign of Afoph is balked, but the Ruffian Admiral Bredahl will be at Liberty to fupply Count Lafci with Neceffaries.

Copenhagen. The auxiliary Troops agreed to be furnish'd to the King of Great Britain, are ready to march upon the first Notice. Our Court is furprized at the French Squadron under the Marquis D'Antin having paffed by Elfenour without paying the ufual Salute.

Goa in the East-Indies, Fan 10. Capt. Bagwell in the Revolution was attack'd 3 Times by 9 Grabs and 13 Callevats belonging to Angria; fhe fought them 3 Glaffes, and having fhot away their Rudders, Main-Yards and Top Mafts, purfu'd them into 4 Fathom, Water. In the Engagement Angria's Admiral and many of his Men were killed, there being in the Grabs and Callevats 2250 Me, and half

as many Lafcars to work their Veffels;
Capt. Bagwell loft only a Midshipman.

Petersburg This Court has received
Advice from their Conful at Rafh in Per-
fia, that Schach Nadir, their Sovereign,
had gained a compleat Victory over the
Grand Mogul, who retired to a Fortress,
where being beficged, and defpairing of
Relief, he went forth into the Perfian
Camp, and deliver'd up his Crow. The
Sophy generously return'd it, and re-
ftored all his Conquefts, except the Pro-
vince of Caboul.

We are told from Paris, that foon after the French Ambaffador arrived at London, he was in Conference with the Miniftry; wherein he declar'd he was glad he return'd Time enough to offer the Mediation of the King his Mafter, in order, if it was poffible, to prevent an open Rupture between Great Britain and Spain, to which he only waited for a pofitive Declaration; that the Emperor and the States General appear'd difpofed to con cur in bringing about the fame End. To which he was answer'd that Things were advanced too far to accept of any Media tion; and befides, Spain had made her Boafts that the fhould not long act alone, but was affured of being powerfully af fifted by France. The Ambaffador, who was before-hand inftructed what Reply to make to fuch an Anfwer, faid, that if indeed the Mediation of the King his Mafter was not accepted, his moft Chriftian Majefty would be obliged to fulfil his Engagements with Spain: That this Power was attach'd to him by the Ties of Blood, and he could not fuffer it to be overwhelm'd by Great Britain without thinking himself indifpenfibly obliged to fend it what Affiftance fhould be neceffary: In Anfwer to which he was told that the King of France was at Liberty to act as he should think fit. The Ambaflador had foon after another Conference with the Miniftry, in which he endeavour'd to fhew the Confequences of refuling the Mediation of his moft Chiftian Majefty, but was told, in order to justly do the Office of a Mediator, it was Gabfourely neceflary to be entirely difintereftd; but that the Union and Engagements which fublifted between France and Spain, were too ftrong for France to act quite impartially in fuch a Mediation, and that this was a Rea on fufficient to prevent accepting the Offer fhe had made: Upon which his Excellency retir'd, faying, that if that was the Cafe, his Prefence was ufelefs at Lwidon, where he fhould not stay long.
