SESSION LVII.-Thursday, August 13, 1863.

JERUSALEM CHAMBER.

By virtue of a Royal Writ bearing date the 27th day of July last, directed to his Grace the President, and of a commission under the Archiepiscopal Seal of his Grace, directed to the Right Worshipful Travers Twiss, Doctor of Laws, his Vicar-General, Convocation was by him, the said Vicar-General, continued and prorogued to and until Thursday the 15th day of October next, in the Jerusalem Chamber, according to the tenour of such writ.

SESSION LVIII.-Thursday, October 15, 1863.

By virtue of a Royal Writ bearing date the 12th day of September last, directed to his Grace the President, and of a commission under the Archiepiscopal Seal of his Grace, directed to the Right Worshipful Travers Twiss, Doctor of Laws, his Vicar-General, Convocation was by him, the said Vicar-General, continued and prorogued to and until Wednesday the 2d day of December next, in the Jerusalem Chamber aforesaid, according to the tenour of such writ.

SESSION LIX.-Wednesday, December 2, 1863.

By virtue of a Royal Writ bearing date the 17th day of November last, directed to his Grace the President, and of a commission under the Archiepiscopal Seal of his Grace, directed to the Right Worshipful Travers Twiss, Doctor of Laws, his Vicar-General, Convocation was by him, the said Vicar-General, continued and prorogued to and until Thursday the 14th day of January next, in the Jerusalem Chamber aforesaid, according to the tenour of such writ.

SESSION LX-Thursday, January 14, 1864.

By virtue of a Royal Writ bearing date the 7th day of January last, directed to his Grace the President, and of a commission under the Archiepiscopal Seal of his Grace, directed to the Right Worshipful Travers Twiss, Doctor of Laws, his Vicar-General, Convocation was by him, the said Vicar-General, continued and prorogued to and until Friday the 5th day of February next, in the Jerusalem Chamber aforesaid, according to the tenour of such writ.

SESSION LXI.-Friday, February 5, 1864.

Motion.

His Grace the Archbishop, accompanied by the Bishop of London, the Bishop of St. Asaph, Dr. Travers Twiss (Vicar-General), Francis Hart Dyke, Esq. (Registrar-General), and Felix Knyvett, Esq. (Apparitor-General), attended at the Jerusalem Chamber at eleven o'clock.

HIS GRACE THE PRESIDENT notified to the house that the Dean of Bristol, the Prolocutor, was prevented by indisposition from being present, and that he had requested his Grace's permission to substitute the Archdeacon of Buckingham in his office of Prolocutor, and stated that the Archdeacon of Buckingham had his permission to act as Prolocutor of the house during the present session.

The Archbishop and his attendants then withdrew to their own chamber at the Bounty-office, and after prayers, there being no business ready for consideration,

The REGISTRAR-GENERAL read the schedule of prorogation, by which the sitting was continued and prorogued until Tuesday the 19th day of April next.

LOWER HOUSE.

Prayers were read by Dr. Jelf at the request of the Prolocutor, and the præconization of members was made by Mr. F. Cobb, the Actuary. The Ven. Archdeacon George Clarke, Vicar of Tenby, took his seat for the first time as Archdeacon of St. David's.

The minutes of the sessions of the 13th August, 15th October, and 2d December, 1863, and of the 14th January, 1864, were read and ordered to be reduced into acts, according to the ancient practice of Convocation.

The PROLOCUTOR then named his Assessors.

NOTICES OF MOTION.

By ARCHDEACON DENISON-That at the earliest opportunity after the reassembling of Convocation he will move "That a committee of this house be appointed to consider the relations between the Church of England and the Committee of Council on Education, and to report thereupon to this house."

By DR. JEBB--That their lordships of the Upper House be respectfully requested to take into consideration some measure for promoting the more effectual recognition of the ancient rights of Presbyters as the councillors and assessors of the Bishops especially in those matters which in their own nature belong to the cognisance of the Spiritual Courts that is to say, cases of doctrine, and ecclesiastical discipline and ritual.

By CHANCELLOR MASSINGBERD on behalf of ARCHDEACON THORP-That his Grace the President and their lordships of the Upper House be requested to join in a humble address to her Majesty praying that her Majesty will command her Majesty's and the University Printers to print no more copies of the Book of Common Prayer otherwise than in conformity with the authorised copies commonly called the "Sealed Book," deposited by authority of Parliament in the Tower of London and other places.

That a humble petition be presented to his Grace the President and their lordships the Bishops praying their lordships to take into their consideration the expediency of providing for the retirement of an incumbent incapacitated for the due performance of his duties, by an allowance out of the proceeds of his benefice.
