33.The Jews answered him,laying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blafphemy, and because that thou, being a man, makeft thy felf God. 34. Jefus anfwered them, "Is it not written in your Law, I faid, Ye are gods? 35. If he called them gods, " unto whom the word of God came, and the fcripture cannot be broken : 36. Say ye of him, whom the Father hath fan&tified, and fent into the world, Thou blafphemeft; because I faid, I am the Son of God? 37. If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38. Therefore they fought again to take him but he escaped out of their hand. 40. And went away again beyond Jordan, into the place where John at firft baptized; and there he abode. 41. OW a certain man was fick, named Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her fifter Martha. 2. b (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whofe brother Lazarus was fick.) 3. Therefore his fifters fent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is fick. 4. When Jefus heard that, he faid, This fickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. 5. Now Jefus loved Martha, and her fifter, and Lazarus. 6. When he had heard therefore that he was fick, he abode two days ftill in the fame place where he was. 7. Then after that, faith he to his difciples, Let us go into Judea again. 8. His difciples fay unto him, Mafter, the Jews of late fought to f ftone thee; and goest thou thither again? 9. Jefus anfwered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he ftumbleth not, because he feeth the light of this world. 10. But hif a man walk in the night, he ftumbleth, because there is no light in him. 11. These things faid he: and after that he faith unto them, Our friend Lazarusi fleepeth; but I go that I may awake him out of fleep. 12. Then faid his difciples, Lord, if he fleep, he fhall do well. 13. Howbeit Jefus fpake of his death: but they thought that he had fpoken of taking of reft in fleep. 14. Then faid Jefus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. 15. And I am glad for your fakes, that I was not there (to the intent ye may believe) nevertheless, let us go unto him. 16. As foon as fhe heard that, fhe arofe quickly, and came unto him. 30. Now Jefus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him. 31. The Jews then which were with her in the houfe, and comforted her, when they faw Mary that she rofe up hastily, and went out, followed her, faying, She goeth unto the grave, to weep there. 32. Then when Mary was come where Jefus was, and faw him, fhe fell down at his feet, faying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had

And Jefus lift up his eyes, and faid, Father, I thank thee that thou haft heard me. 42. And I knew that thou heareft me always: but because of the people which ftand by, I faid it, that they may believe that thou haft fent me. 43. And when he thus had fpoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus fcome forth. 44. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave-clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jefus faith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. 45. Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had a feen the things which Jefus did, believed on him. 46.
