The "Vita Gargilii Mamurrae was written in 1636 when the author was only 24, but was not published until 1643. They were reprinted by Menage after Montmaur's death in 1652. From the preface it appears that it was the first edition published in Svo, the earlier editions being 4to. It is probably circa 1560, in which year Giunta published an edition of the Galateo. The B. M. has a slightly later issue with "new edition" on the title page, which it is supposed was part of the works issued under the title "Rime e Prose."
