Fine large copy of very Scarce Edition of Ptolemy's Fine Maps of the World, many copies of which were suppressed because of the Editorship of Michael Servetus, who was burnt to death at Geneva on October 27, 1553, £20 Vienna (Vienne en Dauphine) Gasper Trechsel, for Hugo a Porta: Lugduni, 1541 The Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, translated out of the original tongues and with the former translations diligently compared and revised. The first Bible printed in the State of New Jersey came from the press of Isaac Collins at Trenton after May of the year 1791. In deference to the Baptists some copies were printed without the Apocrypha and "Ostervald's Notes." An address "To the Reader," by Rev. Dr. Witherspoon, was substituted for the dedication to King James. The bible, which was quarto in size, was printed with great care, being two years passing through the press, and remarkably free from typographical errors. Two years later Collins reprinted in octavo form. Collins was born in New Castle County, Del., on Feb. 16, 1746. Twenty years later he went to Philadelphia and worked for Wm. Goddard. In 1770 he removed to Burlington N.Y., and from there to Trenton where in 1788 he published an edition of the New Testament. Collins died at Burlington in 1817.
