Ornamented with 11 large miniatures, surrounded by ivy-leaf borders introducing flowers, leaves, etc., in gold and colors, and numerous large and small illuminated initials. 4to, dark green levant morocco, the sides richly tooled and gilt in compartments of "pointillé," in the manner of Le Gascon; doublure of red morocco, gilt tooled in panels, centre and corner ornaments of pointillé, gilt edges. In a morocco case. Sæc. XV * AN INTERESTING MANUSCRIPT. The miniatures, although somewhat rubbed, are the work of a Flemish artist, above the average in ability. The Calendar (not full) has Valentine, Juliana, Albinus, Gertrude, Eutropius, Theodolus, Mamert, Desiderius, Medardus, Anianus, Ciricus (Quiricus), Theobald, Romanus, Ypolitus, Arnulphus, Mammes, Lambert, Eustachius, Maurice, Ursin. Leaves 155r. to 163r. contain the Litany in Latin verse of Pierre de Luxembourg, Cardinal and Bishop of Metz, a feature of very rare occurrence. The Memoriae include St. Avia. 2064. Manuscript of the XVth century on vellum, written in large Gothic characters in red and black; probably executed by a Flemish scribe, in the North East of France. 180 leaves (8 x 51⁄4 inches). Ornamented with 25 fine miniatures (6 large and 19 small), 28 borders of scrolls, fruits, flowers, birds, and animals, 6 initials and numerous capitals, all illuminated in gold and colors. 4to, contemporary binding of oak boards covered with leather stamped in compartments surrounded by inscriptions, chased perforated clasps containing small oval miniatures of two saints, enclosed in glass, gilt edges.
