In the commencement it was briefly stated that the object of the REPOSITORY is to afford useful and entertaining knowledge, not only to youth, but also to those more advanced in years, and who may not have the means to procure, or leisure to peruse, more elaborate works. The desire and constant aim of the Editor has been to render this little publication popular and instructive to every class of Readers-a work that the parent may with safety place in the hands of his child-or the tutor present to his deserving pupils as the reward of merit. How this promise has been observed, now that the first volume is in the possession of its patrons, he leaves them to determine.

The Second Volume, the first No. of which will be issued on or before the first day of June next, will not differ essentially in its character from the present. Some striking improvements will, however, be made. Each No, will contain. 35 pages, and at least two engravings, neatly executed on wood. The price will continue the
