The original manuscripts of these three Ballads translated by Borrow from the Danish; and having in addition the manuscript of an alternative version of the first Ballad. The privately printed pamphlet (of which only 30 copies were issued) contains a long and particularly interesting Introduction by Edmund Gosse dealing with the history of the early Heroic Ballads of Denmark and Borrow's connection as translator.
