Kesponsive Reading for Christmas

GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY

LORY be to God on high.

GLO

And on earth peace good will to men. Behold I bring unto you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people; for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.

And he shall be the Prince of Peace. His government shall be established in righteousness and love.

Blessed be the Lord God, for he hath not left himself without a witness,

But hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began;

That we should serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life.

L

Through the tender mercy of our God the dayspring from on high hath visited us;

Giving light to those who sit in darkness and guiding our feet into the way of peace. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings;

That publisheth peace, that proclaimeth glad tidings of salvation.

He shall not strive nor cry, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench.

He shall not fail nor be discouraged till he have established equity in the earth.

The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding; The spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

Anointing him to preach good tidings to the poor, to bind up the broken-hearted; To comfort those who mourn; to proclaim liberty to the captives;

The opening of the prisons to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

He was tempted like as we are, and no fault was found in him.

He came not to be ministered unto, but to minister.

He went about doing good: he bore witness to the truth, proclaiming to all mankind the coming of the kingdom of God. And no guile was found in him.

To him also were the little children brought.

And laying his hand upon their heads, he blessed them.

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good, and our land shall yield her increase. Righteousness shall go before him, and shall set us in the way of his steps.

NOW

GLORIA.

Choir and people uniting.

OW unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God,

Be honor and glory for ever and ever.

Amen.

Kesponsive Keading for Good Friday

H1

MY HEART IS DESOLATE

EAR my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications; in Thy faithfulness answer me and in Thy righteousness: For my spirit is overwhelmed within me and my heart is desolate.

Many that see me laugh me to scorn, saying, He trusted on the Lord that He would deliver him: let Him deliver him, seeing he delighted in Him.

The sorrows of death compass me and the floods of destruction make me afraid.

O my God! why hast Thou forsaken. me? Why art Thou so far from me and from the voice of my cry?

In Thee, O Lord, have I put my trust, let me never be confounded.

Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul to Thee.

As the hart panteth after the water-brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?

Let not the water flood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up; and let not the grave shut her mouth upon me.

Hear me, O Lord; for thy loving-kindness is good. Turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

Our fathers trusted in thee.

and thou didst deliver them.

They trusted,

They cried unto thee, and were delivered. They trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

Be not far from me; for trouble is near, and there is none to help.

Send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me.

Oh, let them bring me unto thy holy hill.

Thou spakest sometime in vision to thy saints, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty, I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

I have found my servant, and with holy oil have I anointed him.
