¶ General confession to be said by the whole congregation, after the minister.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful father! we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep; we have followed too much. the devices and desires of our own hearts; we have offended against thy holy laws; we have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done. But, we entreat thee, O GOD! to have mercy upon us, thine offending creatures. Spare thou those who confess their faults; restore thou those, who are truly penitent; according to thy promises declared unto mankind. in the gospel of Jesus Christ our lord. And grant, O most merciful father! that we may, in future, live a virtuous and religious life, agreeably to thy holy word. Amen.

¶ Minister.

ALMIGHTY GOD! unto whom all hearts are open, all desires are known, and from whom no secrets are hidden; purify the thoughts of our hearts, that we may truly love thee, and worthily praise thy holy name, now and for ever. Amen.

OUR

OUR FATHER! who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us, day by day, our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those, who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

10 "I was grieved with that generation, and said; They are a people who err in their hearts, and consider not my ways.
