these our requests, we beseech thee, o GOD! to hear and to accept us as the sincere disciples of Jesus Christ our lord.

Amen.

General thanksgiving.

ALMIGHTY GOD! father of all mercies! we, thy servants, give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving kindness to us and to all men ; (particularly to those, who desire now to offer up their praises and thanks for thy late mercies vouchsafed unto them.) We thank thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but, above all, for thine inestimable love in pointing out to us the means of obtaining thy favour and everlasting happiness by the gospel of our lord Jesus Christ. And, we beseech thee, give us that just sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may praise thee, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by devoting ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, according to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Concluding prayer.

ALMIGHTY GOD! who hast disposed us, at this time, with one accord to make our common supplications; and hast especially encouraged us, by our lord Jesus Christ, to make known our humble requests unto thee; fulfil now, o thou giver of every good! the desires and petitions of thy servants, in such manner as may be most expedient for them; granting us, in this world, the knowledge of thy truth; and, in the world to come, life everlasting. Amen.

¶ Let the minister and people read the following selected psalm.

PRAISE JEHOVAH! for it is right and good to sing praises unto our GOD.

2 Great is JEHOVAH! his power and wisdom are infinite.

3 He hath not dealt with us according to our offences; neither hath he recompensed us according to our iniquities:

4 For he is kind and merciful; slow to anger and abundant in mercy.

5 The mercy of JEHOVAH is from everlasting to everlasting unto those who revere him; and his kindness unto children's children:

6 Unto such as keep his covenants, and remember his commandments to do them. Now unto JEHOVAH, immortal, invisible, the only GOD;

Be honour and glory, through the gospel of Jesus Christ, for ever. Amen.

Minister.

GOD spake these words, saying: I, JEHOVAH, аm thy GOD: thou shalt have no other gods, beside me.

II Thou shalt not make to thyself any carved image, nor any other semblance, of what is in the heavens above, or on the earth below, or in the waters below the earth. Thou shalt not bow thyself down to them, nor worship them: for I, JEHOVAH, thy GOD, am a jealous GOD, punishing the iniquity of fathers, when they disregard me, in their children, unto the third or fourth generation; but showing mercy unto the thousandth, when they love me, and keep my commandments.

III Thou shalt not take the name of JEHOVAH, thy GOD, in vain for JEHOVAH will not hold him guiltless, who taketh his name in vain.

IV Remember that thou keep holy the sabbath day. Six days thou mayest labour, and do all thy work; but the seventh day being the sabbath of JEHOVAH, thy GOD, no work shalt thou do on it: neither thy
