Shall not he, who holdeth nations in subjection, reprove them? shall not he, who teacheth men knowledge, punish their disobedience?

II JEHOVAH knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vain.

Happy is the man, whom thou, o JEHOVAH! dost correct, and dost instruct in thy law;

To give him patience in the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

For JEHOVAH will not forsake his people; he will not desert his inheritance; 15 But righteous judgment shall be restored, and all the upright of heart shall be his followers.

Who riseth for me against the evildoers? Who will take my part against the workers of iniquity?

If thou, O JEHOVAH! dost not help me, my life will soon inhabit the place of

silence.

When I say: "My foot slippeth ;" thy mercy, O JEHOVAH! supporteth me. 19 While a multitude of anxious thoughts disquiet me, thy comforts delight my soul. 20 Shall

Shall JEHOVAH bless the throne of wickedness, that compelleth labour beyond the time prescribed ?

They gather themselves together against the life of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

But JEHOVAH is my fortress; and my GOD is the rock of my defence.

He shall turn their own iniquity against them; he shall destroy them in their own wickedness: yea, JEHOVAH, our GOD, shall destroy them.
