SUMMARY OF THE REIGN OF

EDWARD THE FOURTH.

Born at Rouen, in Normandy, 1441-2. Crowned at Westminster, March 4th, 1461. Married Elizabeth, Widow of Sir John Grey, of Groby; by whom he had George, who died young; Edward V. who succeeded; Richard, Duke of York; Elizabeth, afterwards married to Henry VII.; Ann,* Wife to Philip, Son of Maximilian, Archduke of Austria; Cicely, married to Lord Wells; Mary, died unmarried; Catherine, espoused to William Courtney, Earl of Devonshire; and Bridget, who took the veil. Edward reigned Twenty-two years; died at Westminster; and was buried at Windsor, in 1483.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS.

The Battles of Hexham, Tewkesbury, &c.; with many other civil contests, said to have destroyed, in the field or on the scaffold, most of the ancient Nobility. Deaths of Henry VI. and his Son Edward; the Earl of Warwick, &c. The Duke of Clarence drowned in a Malmsey butt. The Art of Printing introduced in England from Germany.
