The effect of increasing power loading is presented for a conventional propeller blade at forward Mach numbers up to 0.7. At high speeds, the power loading per blade was increased from a blade coefficient of 0.06 to 0.16, with a resultant increase in propeller efficiency. This increase was shown to be caused primarily by reduced profile losses. In climbs, increases in blade power loading reduced propeller efficiency.
